LITHUANIAN-ITALIAN SECURITY COOPERATION DISCUSSED IN VILNIUS

On 25 October Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Žygimantas Pavilionis discussed with the Chief of Defence of Italy Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola Lithuanian-Italian cooperation in security and defence sectors and important issues related to forthcoming NATO Summit in Riga.

Ministry Undersecretary Pavilionis and Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola exchanged opinions on such issues of regional security as situation in Georgia, the United Nations operation in Lebanon.

Italy is important Lithuania’s partner in Afghanistan. It heads regional Headquarters of NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operation, to which Lithuanian Provincial Reconstruction Team in Chagcharan is subordinate.
