LITHUANIAN HONORARY CONSUL IN THE USA JURGIS JURGUTIS DIED
Lithuanian Honorary Consul in the United States of America, State of Michigan Jurgis Jurgutis died on 30 April, aged 71. “Lithuania and Lithuanian community in the USA has lost a man of worth, a patriot, who worked for the sake of our compatriots and represented interests of the Republic of Lithuania in the State of Michigan from 2001,” Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas wrote in his letter of condolences to the family of the Honorary Consul.
J.Jurgutis was an active member of Lithuanian community in Detroit, member and chairman of Divine Providence Parish committee. The Honorary Consul visited Lithuania frequently and was interested in possibilities of investment in the national economy.
J.Jurgutis took office as Lithuanian Honorary Consul in 2001.
