The Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union is holding an informal meeting of the General Affairs Council on 29-30 May in Athens, which will be attended by the Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Vytautas Leškevičius.

The meeting will discuss the relationship between the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament and the European Commission. There will also be a discussion on strengthening of the role of the EU’s General Affairs Council in shaping the EU policy aimed at ensuring its effective implementation and the function of the political dialogue forum.

The issue related to inter-institutional cooperation was also addressed during the meeting of Directors (European Affairs) of the Foreign Ministries of the EU member states in Vilnius on 11-12 July and during the informal meeting of the EU’s General Affairs Council on 29-30 August.

Informal meetings of the General Affairs Council are usually held once every six months in a county, which holds the rotating Presidency of EU.
