LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER TO REPRESENT THE EU COUNCIL AT THE ACP-EU JOINT PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY
On 26-27 November in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas will take part in a session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. The Vice-Minister will substitute for the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and participate in a debate on development cooperation and important political issues of the ACP regions.
The 26th session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly is a key event of the EU’s cooperation with the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, which will take place during Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The visit to Ethiopia will also include the Vice-Minister’s bilateral meeting with high ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia. It is expected that the meeting will focus on the bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Ethiopia, priorities for Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council, issues related to the forthcoming Presidency of the United Nations Security Council and cooperation within the United Nations, the EU’s development aid to Africa and its prospects, important issues in the region.
Lithuania and Ethiopia established diplomatic relations in 1998.
