LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER RECEIVES THAILAND’S NEW AMBASSADOR
On 2 December, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas received the Ambassador of Thailand to Lithuania Vimon Kidchob, who is visiting Vilnius, and discussed political and economic cooperation, multilateral initiatives, and Thailand’s dialogue with the European Union. The purpose of the Ambassador’s visit to Lithuania is to present her letters of credence to the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė on 2 December.
N.Germanas congratulated the diplomat on this occasion and underlined that over the last twenty years Lithuania and Thailand had become reliable partners in a multilateral context. The Vice-Minister thanked for the country’s support for Lithuania’s bid for a seat on the UN Security Council.
“Bilateral relations are an untapped niche, so we are sure that our cooperation with Thailand’s new representative will bring excellent results,” the Vice-Minister said.
According to N.Germanas, Lithuania supports the close dialogue between the European Union and Thailand. The launch of the EU-Thailand negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement in March 2013 and the initialling of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement in November were significant for further cooperation between Thailand and the European Union.
