LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER OPENS THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BRAZIL-LITHUANIA IN SÃO PAULO
On 12 April in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė opened the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Lithuania that will help entrepreneurs of both countries strengthen their trade ties. The main function of the Chamber is to assist companies seeking new opportunities in the Lithuanian and Brazilian markets. The Chamber of Commerce will cooperate with various business organizations in Brazil and Lithuania in an effort to help companies find business partners and consolidate their businesses.
Lithuanian entrepreneurs who are interested in cooperation with Brazilian companies can already contact the Chamber (http://www.lithuaniabrazil.com/).The Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Lithuania is headed by Brazilian businessman Danilo Talanskas, and Lithuanian Honorary Consul in São Paulo Francisco Ricardo Blagevitch is an honorary member of the Chamber.
In view of the growing economic and international significance of South America, Lithuania seeks to strengthen relations with Brazil – an emerging economy, the leader of the region and European Union’s strategic partner.
At Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado, a higher education institution in São Paulo, Vice-Minister A.Skaisgirytė Liauškienė also gave a lecture on Lithuania’s foreign policy priorities.
Later the Vice-Minister met with members of the Lithuanian community in Brazil and wished them to foster their Lithuanian identity and to proclaim the name of Lithuania through good deeds and beautiful initiatives.
Brazil has the largest Lithuanian community in Latin America. It is believed that about 250 thousand persons of Lithuanian background could live in this country.
