Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister meets with State Secretary for in Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discusses situation in Ukraine and EU issues

On 2 April in Vilnius, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Vytautas Leškevičius met with Ingvild Næss Stub, State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway. The officials discussed the situation in Ukraine and the EU’s topical issues.

The Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister and the Norwegian State Secretary expressed strong support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and condemned Russia’s actions toward Ukraine.

They also discussed the negotiations on the implementation of the EEA Financial Mechanism for the period that begins on 1 May 2014, prospects and priorities.

According to V.Leškevičius, Lithuania highly appreciates the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms as a means of reducing economic and social disparities in the EEA.

The Foreign Vice-Minister and the State Secretary underlined that it was extremely important to strengthen the partnership between Norway and Lithuania, attaching special importance to Lithuania’s energy independence. According to the officials, the successful cooperation in the implementation of the LNG project is especially important.
