Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister meets with Israel’s new Ambassador to Lithuania, discusses bilateral cooperation
On 4 February, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas met with new Ambassador of Israel to Lithuania Amir Maimon. The Vice-Minister underlined that the opening of the Israeli Embassy in Vilnius constituted an important step towards further intensifying bilateral relations between Lithuania and Israel.
“The opening of the Embassy will further deepen bilateral political and economic cooperation, people-to-people contacts and will contribute to the preservation and promotion of Jewish culture in Lithuania”, said N.Germanas.
During the meeting, the Vice-Minister and the Ambassador discussed close bilateral relations between Lithuania and Israel, prospects for their development, cooperation within international organizations.
Israel’s Ambassador A.Maimon presented his letters of credence to President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė on 4 February. He is Israel’s first Ambassador who resides in Vilnius. The Israeli Embassy was opened in Vilnius on 26 January this year.
