LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER HEADS TO POLAND

On July 5-9, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Egidijus Meilūnas will be paying a visit to Poland, where he is to take part in a seminar of Lithuanian and Polish economists, discussion on relations between Lithuania and Poland, and in a commemoration of the 79th death anniversary of aviators Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas.

On July 5 in Warsaw, Meilūnas is to open an expert seminar on “Poland and Lithuania: shaping a prosperous Baltic Sea region”, which will explore the partnership of the countries to boost economic growth and prospects for cooperation in transport and energy spheres.

The commemoration of the 79th death anniversary of Darius and Girėnas will take place on July 8 at the monument in the Pszczelnik forest, Gmina Myślibórz. Their plane dubbed “Lituanica” crashed near this place after a transatlantic flight on July 17, 1933.

On July 9 at the University of Warsaw, the Vice-Minister is to participate in a discussion entitled “Lithuanian-Polish relations: diagnosis and key challenges”. Participants will give speeches and discuss relations between Lithuania and Poland in the past, present and future, and their impact on the countries’ efforts to fulfil their EU and NATO targets.
