LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER ENCOURAGED MOLDOVA TO BE MORE COMMITTED TO THE ACTIVITY OF THE COMMUNITY OF DEMOCRACIES

On 7 April in Vilnius, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius and Ambassador of Moldova to Lithuania Igor Klipii discussed Moldova’s participation in the foreign ministers meeting of the Community of Democracies that is due in Vilnius on 1 July and in the Democracy Partnership Challenge initiative.

Moldova received a proposal to present the progress in strengthening democracy in the country, and to define concrete and specific needs for further development of democracy during the event of the Democracy Partnership Challenge initiative.

At the meeting, the Vice-Minister and the Ambassador also discussed issues of cooperation between Lithuania and Moldova, a planned visit of Moldova’s Prime Minister Vlad Filat to Lithuania, Lithuania’s support to Moldova’s European integration, and the cooperation between the Lithuanian and Moldovan Parliaments.

On 12 April in Luxembourg, a meeting of the Friends of Moldova Group is planned during the European Union’s Foreign Affairs Council. Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis will also participate in this meeting.
