LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER ATTENDS THE OSCE MINISTERIAL COUNCIL IN KYIV
At the 20th OSCE Ministerial Council on 5-6 December in Kyiv, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas stressed that the process of integration based on democratic values and the freedom of choice for the participating States effectively contributed to the formation of a common and indivisible security space in the OSCE area.
The Foreign Ministers from 57 participating States seek consensus on the most important trends for the organization’s activities and concrete work, discuss draft solutions for politico-military, economic and environmental and human dimensions, and the declaration on the Helsinki +40 process.
The events of recent days in Ukraine have influenced also the agenda of the OSCE Ministerial Council. The majority of the Foreign Ministers stressed that the participating States must be in compliance with the OSCE commitments, as well as implement the provisions of the 1975 Helsinki Final Act – respect the territorial integrity of each of the participating States, refrain from the threat or use of force, and respect the freedom of choice.
Meetings of the OSCE Ministerial Council are held by the OSCE Chairmanship. Ukraine holds the OSCE Chairmanship in 2013.
