Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister and Ukraine’s new Ambassador discuss topical issues of bilateral relations

On 5 January in Vilnius, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Andrius Krivas met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi, who presented copies of his letters of credence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister and the Ambassador discussed the most topical issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Krivas expressed the hope that the trade part of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, which became operational on 1 January 2016, would promote Ukraine’s economic modernization, deepen economic relations between Ukraine and the EU, and give a boost to bilateral trade between Lithuania and Ukraine.

Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister also congratulated Ukraine on being elected as non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2016-2017 period and assured that Lithuania was ready to share its own experience with Ukraine.

Yatsenkivskyi has served in the Ukrainian diplomatic service since 1992. Prior to his appointment, he worked at Ukrainian embassies in the USA, Italy and Poland. Recently, Yatsenkivskyi served as the Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The Ambassador was responsible for the Ukrainian diaspora and issues related to cultural cooperation.
