Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister and State Secretary of Slovenia denounced Russia’s aggression and expressed continued support for Eastern Partnership countries
During the consultations of Lithuanian and Slovenian Foreign Ministries on 14 May in Vilnius, the Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Vytautas Leškevičius and the State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Slovenia Igor Senchar devoted significant attention to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, the Eastern Partnership policy and future European agenda relating to the events in Ukraine over the last half year, as well as the EU’s eastern neighbours.
The officials had a conversation about possible ways to solve the diplomatic crisis, discussed possible expansion of sanctions. Both sides condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and agreed to continue to maintain their position on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea.
The meeting discussed also other items on the EU and multilateral agendas. V.Leškevičius was glad that positions also coincided on further euro zone reform, the future of the EU institutions, nuclear security, as well as other international policy issues. The officials agreed that the countries would continue to consult and coordinate positions on key issues on the EU agenda.
The Lithuania-Slovenia bilateral relationship received a lot of attention. I.Senchar highlighted the newly strengthening economic ties between Lithuania and Slovenia. The officials negotiated priority directions to further develop economic cooperation.
