LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER AND OECD REPRESENTATIVE DISCUSS ENGAGEMENT IN OECD ACTIVITIES, PREPARATIONS FOR ACCESSION TALKS
On 26 June in Vilnius, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas met with Marcos Bonturi, Director of the OECD Global Relations, and discussed prospects for Lithuania’s further engagement in activities of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and preparations for accession.
“We appreciate that the OECD has confirmed its commitment to strengthen mutual collaboration with Lithuania and provide technical consultation assisting to prepare effectively for accession talks. I believe that thanks to our coordinated effort by 2015 we will have made significant progress in key areas of the OECD activity, which will guarantee us a smooth and quick negotiation process,” said Kriščiūnas.
The senior level OECD official is visiting Vilnius after the OECD Ministerial Council meeting on 31 May signalled an intention to open accession talks with Lithuania in 2015.
During his one-day visit to Lithuania, Bonturi is to meet with heads and experts from five main ministries involved in the activity within OECD bodies.
