LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER AND MONGOLIAN AMBASSADOR DISCUSS INCREASED BILATERAL COOPERATION

On 6 April, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė bade farewell to outgoing Ambassador of Mongolia to Lithuania Otgony Dambiinyam and discussed increased cooperation of Lithuania and Mongolia.

The Ambassador thanked the Vice-Minister for the excellent organisation of the visit of the President of Mongolia last year and for Lithuania’s assistance to Mongolia after taking over from Lithuania the Presidency of the Community of Democracies.

Both interlocutors agreed that it was particularly important to further economic cooperation aiming at increasing the volumes of Lithuanian export goods, establishing contacts in the field of transport, and more actively increasing people-to-people contacts.

Skaisgirytė Liauškienė invited Mongolian students to come and study at higher education institutions in Lithuania.

The Vice-Minister informed the Ambassador about the future visit of the Lithuanian delegation to Mongolia. On 16-17 April in Ulan Bator, the Lithuanian delegation led by Skaisgirytė Liauškienė is to attend the events of the Lithuanian Embassy to Mongolia that are dedicated to the establishment of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Lithuania business representatives will also accompany the delegation to Mongolia and will take part in the seminar on economic and business opportunities in Lithuania.

O.Dambiinyam was the third Ambassador of Mongolia to Lithuania, who resided in Warsaw.

Lithuania and Mongolia established their diplomatic relations on 11 December 1991.
