LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER AND JAPAN‘S NEW AMBASSADOR DISCUSS BILATERAL COOPERATION

On 8 March in Vilnius, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė and Japan’s new Ambassador to Lithuania Kazuko Shiraishi discussed bilateral cooperation, the recent visit of Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius to Japan, economic partnership and bilateral agreements that are being drafted.

A.Skaisgirytė Liauškienė called for the early finalization of the draft Agreement between Lithuania and Japan for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Evasion.

The new Ambassador was also informed about the concert at the Vilnius Congress Concert Hall on 12 March to commemorate the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan a year ago. Kazuko Shiraishi is Japan’s ninth Ambassador to Lithuania and the second one who resides in Vilnius. On 7 March 2012, the diplomat presented her credentials to the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė.
