LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER AND ISRAELI AMBASSADOR TO LITHUANIA DISCUSS PLANS FOR MARKING THE UPCOMING 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

On 7 November in Vilnius, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė met with new Israeli Ambassador to Lithuania Hagit Ben-Yaakov and discussed with her the progress achieved in bilateral relations, plans for marking the upcoming 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations of Lithuania and Israel, as well as other projects.

At the meeting, significant attention was given to the Middle East peace process and the situation in the Middle East region.

The Ambassador emphasized the intensive bilateral cooperation, based on specific plans, and said that she was going to dedicate a lot of attention not only to political issues, but also to economic and cultural projects.

In Lithuania, the Ambassador held meetings with President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, Speaker of the Seimas (Parliament) Irena Degutienė and Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius.

Hagit Ben-Yaakov, 43, resides in Riga. Prior to this appointment she worked as a political adviser to the Israeli Minister for Foreign Affairs.
