LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER AND FINLAND’S NEW AMBASSADOR TO LITHUANIA DISCUSS CLOSE BILATERAL AND MULTILATERAL COOPERATION
On 16 January in Vilnius, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Neris Germanas received the newly appointed Ambassador of Finland to Lithuania Harri Mäki-Reinikka and discussed with him important issues of bilateral and regional cooperation.
The Vice-Minister noted that in the Nordic-Baltic region Lithuania was willing to take over the best practice of Finland and other Nordic countries, and sought to enhance the cultural, social and economic integrity.
The Ambassador pointed out that the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö was planning to pay a visit to Lithuania in the first half of this year.
The meeting discussed cooperation in the implementation of the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR). In this framework, Lithuania and Finland are co-coordinating two priority areas: reinforcing the sustainability of agriculture, forestry and fisheries; and reducing cross border crime and hazards.
