LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER AND AN OFFICIAL FROM THE LATVIAN MFA DISCUSSED CURRENT ISSUES ON THE EU AGENDA

On 3 December in Vilnius, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Egidijus Meilūnas met with head of the European Union Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Ilze Juhansone and discussed current issues on the EU agenda: the preparation for the European Council, the proposals to amend the Treaty of Lisbon, the EU budget review and the new financial perspective.

During the meeting, E.Meilūnas and I.Juhansone noted that it was important to make joint efforts aiming to establish the missing energy links and to enhance transport infrastructure, which is important for the entire Baltic region.

The Vice-Minister also informed the Latvian officials about Lithuania’s preparation to hold the EU presidency in 2013.
