Lithuanian Foreign Ministry’s statement on groundless media interpretations
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs disassociates itself from the publication of 30 May in “15min.lt” on the Lithuanian and Latvian working groups’ meeting. The publication includes groundless interpretations and subjective opinion, which do not reflect the Foreign Ministry’s official position or the real consultation process.
On May 27 in Vilnius, the first meeting of intergovernmental working groups of the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Latvia was held to discuss the economic cooperation in the Baltic Sea based on international practice. During the meeting, the parties agreed to launch consultations aimed at drafting a pilot agreement on cooperation in an exclusive economic zone in the Baltic Sea, as set out in Article 4 of the Lithuania-Latvia Sea Border Agreement.
