LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY SENDS A NOTE TO PAKISTAN, REQUESTING TO REPATRIATE REMAINS OF ONE LITHUANIAN ALPINIST AND TO GUARANTEE SAFETY OF THE SECOND ONE

On 25 June, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note to the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan, requesting to repatriate the remains of a Lithuanian alpinist, to guarantee safety of the second Lithuanian citizen, to retrieve his documents and personal belongings that remain in the mountains, and to assist the citizen to return back safely to his homeland.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs keeps in touch with the family of the deceased Lithuanian citizen, provides them with all the available relevant information and assistance.

The Hungarian Embassy in Islamabad provides assistance in applying for repatriation of the remains to Lithuania, as well as consular assistance.

The Lithuanian Ambassador to Turkey, who is now in Pakistan, and the Lithuanian Honorary Consul in Pakistan are in touch with the second alpinist; they take care about the citizen’s return to Lithuania and about his documents and personal belongings that remain in the mountains.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates its warning to Lithuanian citizens to refrain from unnecessary travelling to Pakistan.
