Lithuanian Foreign Ministry issues diplomatic note to Russian Embassy over incidents in Lithuanian exclusive economic zone
On 30 May, the Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrius Krivas handed over a diplomatic note to the Russian Chargés d'affaires ad interim Dmitriy Masyuk. The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry expressed concern about the recurring activities of the Russian Federation Naval Forces that violate the rights and freedoms of the sovereign Republic of Lithuania and other states in the Lithuanian exclusive economic zone.
The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence has also drawn the attention of the Russian Embassy to similar infringements in the past.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry calls on the Russian Federation to consistently abide by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, other international laws and to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
