LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY AND EUROPEAN COMMISSION CO-HOST MARKET ACCESS STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION CONFERENCE
On 11 October in Vilnius, in the context of the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council, the European Commission and the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-hosted a Conference on the Implementation of the Market Access Strategy (MAS).
The event was attended by about a hundred representatives of Lithuanian and other EU businesses, state institutions and agencies, national experts of the European Commission’s Market Access Advisory Committee, and business analysts.
The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas welcomed the participants of the conference. Speeches were also delivered and discussions were attended by representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Trade, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, European and Lithuanian business associations (e.g., businessEUROPE, spiritsEUROPE), the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, and the Lithuanian Meat Processors Association.
The three sessions discussed the EU’s Market Access Strategy, its significance for overall EU trade policy, economic growth and competitiveness, its implementation measures, Customs Union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, and its implications for EU business as well as food and beverages sectors’ problems in third markets.
