LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER TO ATTEND THE EU’S FOREIGN AFFAIRS COUNCIL IN BRUSSELS
On 31 January, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius will attend the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels.
The Council will discuss the EU’s relations with the United States after the country’s presidential election, as well as the results of the European Union-Russia Summit that took place on 21 December 2012.
The Council is expected to discuss the situation in the Southern Neighbourhood of the European Union. The ministers will also discuss the Middle East peace process, the European Union Policy towards the Arctic Region, and the results of the Summit of the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños, CELAC) that was held from 25 to 27 January in Santiago, Chile. It is possible that the Council will adopt conclusions on the situation in Somalia.
Prior to the FAC meeting, Linkevičius will attend a meeting of the Group of Friends of Ukraine.
