LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER THANKS THE ORDER OF MALTA FOR ITS CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES IN LITHUANIA
On 16 January, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius, who is visiting the Vatican City, met with the Grand Master of the Knights of Malta Matthew Festing, Grand Chancellor Jean-Pierre Mazery, and the Grand Hospitaller Albrecht Freiherr von Boeselager. The Foreign Minister thanked the Order of Malta for its charity service in Lithuania since the restoration of independence.
“The Order of Malta Soup, children’s day care centres, emergency corps and social services – these projects and activities are very well known and appreciated in Lithuania. On behalf of the people of Lithuania, I would like to thank you for this,” L.Linkevičius said.
The Grand Master of the Knights of Malta assured that the Order of Malta intended to continue its activities in Lithuania and thanked the Lithuanian Foreign Minister for his visit.
L.Linkevičius briefly presented results of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2013 and proprieties for the country’s membership of the United Nations Security Council. The participants of the meeting also discussed Lithuania’s ongoing development cooperation projects, activities of the Order of Malta around the world, possibilities for cooperation between Lithuania and the Order of Malta on international projects.
