LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER THANKED THE NORDIC COUNCIL OF MINISTERS FOR SUPPORTING EXCHANGE PROGRAMS AND REGIONAL PROJECTS
On 12 December Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas met the Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers Per Unckel who finishes his term of office and thanked him and the Nordic Council of Ministers for supporting many exchange programs and cultural, information and regional projects.
During the conversation special attention was paid to the European Humanities University (EHU) – the project that the Nordic Council of Ministers undertook to administer and support for three years.
Mr Unckel admitted that the EHU is the biggest and the most important project supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers in Lithuania and noted that in the nearest time the Nordic countries will pay more attention to Belarus.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister informed that on 15 December the EHU and Mykolas Riomeris University are to sign agreements on provision of premises to Belarusian University to fulfil Lithuania’s international obligation to provide premises to the EHU.
“Europe should not turn its back on Belarus and Lithuania will make every effort to promote European values in Belarusian society,” Minister Vaitiekūnas said at the meeting.
