LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER STRESSES CLOSER LITHUANIAN-GERMAN TIES AND ACTIVE YOUTH EXCHANGE
On 24 October, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis met with the new German Ambassador to Lithuania Matthias Mülmenstädt and highlighted closer Lithuanian-German ties and intensifying youth exchange.
This year, Lithuania and Germany mark the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations. A.Ažubalis noted that over the past 20 years, the bilateral dialogue has steadily developed and intensified, volumes of trade increased and Lithuanian-German ties strengthened.The Minister and the Ambassador discussed successful activities of the public association Lithuanian-German Forum.
According to A.Ažubalis, Lithuania is interested in promoting youth cooperation and bilateral youth initiatives.
M.Mülmenstädt presented his credential letters to President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė on 9 September 2011. Before coming to Lithuania, the Ambassador worked at the German Federal Foreign Office. Previously to this appointment, M.Mülmenstädt worked in Germany’s diplomatic missions to Montreal, Saint Petersburg, Tel Aviv and Washington, D.C.
