LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER SENT A LETTER OF CONDOLENCE REGARDING THE DEATH OF BRONISŁAW GEREMEK

On 14 July, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas sent a letter to Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, in which he presented his condolences regarding the death of former Polish Foreign Minister and long-term activist of Solidarity movement Bronisław Geremek. The condolences are dedicated to the family of Professor B.Geremek and the people of Poland.

In the letter, Foreign Minister P.Vaitiekūnas writes that B.Geremek was one of the most renowned personalities in Europe for his solid contribution to the idea of free, united and democratic Europe.

‘Professor B.Geremek was one of the key figures, who had helped Lithuania to re-establish its Independence and supported Lithuania’s aspiration to become a member of the European Union and NATO. Lithuania highly appreciates the input of former Polish Foreign Minister into the strengthening of partnership between the two countries’, P. Vaitiekūnas says in his letter.
