Lithuanian Foreign Minister receives Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador

On 9 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius received the new Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Lithuania Fahad M. Alruwaily, who came to present his letters of credence to President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė.

In the meeting, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister called for the opening of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Vilnius and invited the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia to visit Lithuania.

The Ambassador informed Lithuania’s Foreign Minister that the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia planned to visit the Baltic states. The officials also discussed cooperation in the field of education and science, the promotion of economic cooperation and opportunities for exchanging business delegations.

Lithuania and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia established their diplomatic relations on 31 October 1995. Lithuania opened its Honorary Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 28 April 2015. The Ambassador Alruwaily resides in Copenhagen.
