LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVED AMBASSADORS OF THE U.S AND NORWAY
On 22 August Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas received the new U.S. Ambassador John A.Cloud and discussed with him Lithuania‘s relations with neighbours, participation in NATO operation in Iraq, Afghanistan reconstruction mission and possible Lithuania’s contribution to the crisis settlement in Lebanon.
The issues of Lithuanian-Latvian cooperation, energy security, deepening of economic cooperation, property of the Jewish Community were also touched upon in the meeting.
On 22 August the Head of Lithuanian diplomacy also received Norwegian Ambassador Kare Hauge who is finishing his term of office.
Minister Vaitiekūnas congratulated the Ambassador on forthcoming 15th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuanian-Norwegian diplomatic relations and thanked for his personal input to strengthening of Lithuanian-Norwegian ties.
The participants of the meeting also talked about the upcoming Lithuanian Foreign Minister’s visit to Oslo.
