LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER: MOLDOVA MUST CONTINUE ITS REFORMS, AS THE EASTERN PARTNERSHIP SUMMIT IN VILNIUS DRAWS NEAR

At the meeting with the new Prime Minister of Moldova Iurie Leancă and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman on 13 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated Moldova on the finalization of negotiations on the conclusion of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, and stressed that the country had to continue on its path of reform.

“Moldova is rapidly achieving its goals by the Vilnius Summit. The country must maintain the reform momentum, while Lithuania strongly supports Moldova’s EU bid,” Linkevičius underlined.

This is the first visit of Leancă to Brussels after his appointment as the new Prime Minister of Moldova. Linkevičius congratulated Moldova on successfully overcoming the political crisis and forming a new Government, and stressed that the continuity of reform would help to avoid future crises.

Linkevičius also discussed the preparation for the forthcoming Vilnius Summit with Štefan Füle, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy.
