Lithuanian Foreign Minister met with delegation of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs
On 14 May in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the delegation of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs led by the President of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Ambassador Ivo Daalder. Also present at the meeting was the Unites States Ambassador to Lithuania Deborah McCarthy.
The delegation of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs was acquainted with challenges and priorities for Lithuania’s EU Council Presidency, which, according to the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, are important also today. The guests were acquainted with priorities for Lithuania’s non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council. The meeting discussed the regional security threats associated with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the importance of the U.S. presence in the region and the EU cooperation with Eastern Partnership countries.
The head of the Lithuanian diplomacy also stressed the importance of the U.S. support for Lithuania’s aim to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The delegation of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, which is composed of influential personalities from all walks of life from Chicago, is visiting Lithuania for the first time.
