On 12 December at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with NATO Ambassadors to discuss results of Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. When speaking about the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius, the Minister was gratified with the high level participation and welcomed the signature of agreements.
“It is very important that the strategic agreements between the EU and its Eastern partners were signed in Vilnius, and the EU proposal for Ukraine to sign the Association Agreement remains valid,” the Lithuanian Foreign Minister said.
The Ambassadors welcomed the successful Lithuanian EU Council Presidency and evaluated efforts to strengthen cooperation with the Eastern partner countries.
The meeting discussed next week’s European Council meeting where the EU’s common security and defence policy will be on the agenda. The participants exchanged views on cooperation between the EU and NATO as well as challenges arising in the area.
