LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS WITH ISRAELI AMBASSADOR TO DISCUSS THE ADVANCEMENT OF BILATERAL RELATIONS
On 18 July in Vilnius, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius met with Israeli Ambassador to Lithuania Hagit Ben-Yaakov to discuss bilateral and international issues, including the upcoming visit to Lithuania of the Israeli President Shimon Peres, the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, topical issues of cooperation between Israel and the EU, and the Middle East peace process.
“The upcoming visit to Lithuania of the Israeli President Shimon Peres symbolizes the new stage of bilateral relations,” the head of the Lithuanian diplomacy stressed.
During the meeting, Linkevičius called for the renewal of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority, and highlighted the importance of the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s initiative.
Ambassador Hagit Ben-Yaakov welcomed the development of the relations between Lithuania and Israel. According to the diplomat, the bilateral relationship has become increasingly intense.
