LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS SPEAKER OF SWEDISH PARLIAMENT

On 6 June, Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis, visiting Sweden to attend Nordic (EU member) and Baltic states Prime ministers’ meeting, met with Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag Bjoern von Sydow.
The officials discussed European Convention and bilateral cooperation issues. The Speaker assured that Lithuanian EU Accession treaty should be ratified by the Parliament without difficulties. The ratification procedure is set for November.
The Speaker confirmed also his attendance in the Baltic and Nordic countries speakers’ meeting in Lithuania in August.
The Minister congratulated the Speaker on the occasion of the Day of the Swedish Flag.
Lithuania is interested in diverse cooperation with Sweden consolidating regional potential for common activities in the united Europe-, minister Valionis stated during the meeting.
