On 5 February, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Antanas Valionis met with Undersecretary of State at the Polish MFA Jan Truszczyński, who came to Vilnius to take part in the political consultations.
At the meeting, the officials discussed commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the treaty between the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Poland on friendly relations and good neighbourly cooperation to be celebrated on 26 April, and signing of agreements on bilateral recognition of diplomas and spelling of ethnic minorities’ personal names mentioned in this treaty.
The diplomats also discussed the situation of education and common bilateral projects of power bridge between Lithuania and Poland, the motorway Via Baltica and the railway Rail Baltica.
Antanas Valionis and Jan Truszczyński exchanged opinions on the Intergovernmental Conference, which ended in December, and perspectives of further discussions on the EU institutional reform.
