Lithuania seeks to develop political, economic, cultural and educational relations with Israel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Antanas Valionis stated at the meeting with Speaker of Israeli Parliament (Knesset) Reuven Rivlin on 22 September in Vilnius.
The Minister underlined that the Lithuanian Jews were and had been an inseparable part of the country’s history and culture, thus it was important to maintain friendly and constructive relations between the two nations.
Minister Valionis expressed his belief that the visit would contribute to a closer parliamentary and bilateral cooperation between the countries.
The Speaker of Israeli Knesset shared the opinion of the Lithuanian Minister and expressed his view that the climate of cooperation between Lithuania and Israel would only get better, and that both countries should look forward and not just consider the past.
