LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER LINAS LINKEVIČIUS CONTINUES CONSULTATIONS ON SYRIA
On 30 August 2013, the Nordic and Baltic Foreign Ministers held a videoconference to discuss the situation in Syria.
The countries strongly condemn the use of chemical weapons and stress the need to ensure proper conditions and give enough time for the UN experts to conduct an impartial investigation into the use of chemical weapons in Syria and to prepare conclusions.
The Ministers agreed to hold consultations on a regular basis on this matter to adjust the positions of the Nordic and Baltic countries. The Nordic Baltic Eight (NB8) Foreign Ministers’ annual meeting to be held on September 2-3 in Visby, Sweden, will also discuss the crisis in Syria.
