LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER IS TO MEET WITH TURKISH MINISTER FOR EU AFFAIRS IN VILNIUS

On 11 January, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis is to hold a meeting with the Turkish Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator for Turkey’s accession negotiations with the EU Egemen Bağiş in Vilnius.

The Ministers are to discuss the course of Turkish accession negotiations with the European Union, ongoing reforms in Turkey and issues of transferring Lithuania’s European integration experience. The meeting will also address the EU-Turkey cooperation in the fields of economy and transport.

Among other key topics of the talks is bilateral cooperation within the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and NATO.

During the visit, Bağiş will participate in the traditional informal Snow Meeting of European and North American foreign policy architects in Trakai.

The agenda of the Turkish Minister’s visit also includes meetings with Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and members of the Committee on European Affairs of the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania.

Bağiş will deliver a lecture on Turkey’s EU accession process at the European Information Office of the Seimas.
