LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER IS TO MEET WITH NATO SECRETARY GENERAL WHO WILL BE PAYING A VISIT TO LITHUANIA
On 1 February, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius will meet with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who will be paying an official visit to Lithuania.
The meeting will focus on NATO’s role in Afghanistan after 2014, the Baltic Air Policing mission, further NATO-Russia cooperation, perspectives for NATO partnerships and enlargement policy, energy security and other important issues.
Rasmussen’s visit to Lithuania will meet with President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas, leaders of Parliament (Seimas). NATO Secretary General will also pay a visit to the air base in Zokniai hosting the NATO Air Policing mission. Currently, Danish Royal Air Force fighters are protecting the Baltic skies.
This will be Rasmussen’s third visit to Lithuania since 2009, when he took office as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s Secretary General.
