LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER INVITES THE CHINESE TO DISCOVER LITHUANIA
On 27 May at the Tourism Business Seminar that was organized by the Lithuanian Embassy in Beijing, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis invited Chinese people to use tourism opportunities in Lithuania.The Embassy invited Chinese public officials responsible for China’s tourism sector, tour operators, journalists, also representatives from the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China to the event.
“Lithuania and China are quite distant countries. In addition, arriving to Lithuania you will be welcomed by a unique, intact by civilization and clean nature, rich history, architecture and a wide range of possibilities to relax,” Lithuanian Foreign Minister said at the opening of the seminar.At the seminar, speeches were given and the Lithuanian tourism sector was more broadly presented by Vice-Minister of the Economy Daumantas Lapinskas, Director General of the Lithuanian State Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy Raimonda Balnienė, Head of the Tourism and Promotion Division of the Vilnius City Municipal Government Nijolė Beliukevičienė and representatives from Lithuania’s incoming tour operators.
Tourist attraction from China is one the priorities of Lithuania’s inbound tourism promotion. According to the report of China Tourism Academy, tourists from China will make 65 million trips to foreign countries in 2011, up from 57.39 million in 2010. They are expected to spend $55 billion overseas.
