LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER INVITES LITHUANIANS IN THE WORLD TO CHERISH THE CIVIC IDENTITY AND TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CREATION OF LITHUANIA

Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis congratulates compatriots in the world on the occasion of the Day of Re-establishment of the State of Lithuania and invites them to cherish the civic identity, as well as to participate in the creation of Lithuania.The Minister notes that the re-establishment of the state was encouraged by the statehood tradition which had been fostered for ages and by the eagerness for freedom which had resisted the pressure from external forces.

 

“The freedom idea became a reality with the inspiration from our ancestors’ deeds and from the depths of our hundreds of years in the history. We led our reborn state along the road of patriotism. This became the core of Lithuanian attitude towards the world and the source of our vitality that accompanied us in the fights of resistance movement, which allowed us to resist the yoke and led to the Independence”, the congratulation letter by Minister A.Ažubalis reads.

The Minister also encouraged compatriots to nurture their civic identity and feelings of community, to cherish the Lithuanian language, customs and traditions, and to dedicate their energy, knowledge and experience to the creation of Lithuania.

“Let me wish you wholeheartedly that the spirit of the 16th of February strengthens our faith in each other, that it consolidates the family of Lithuanians in the world and leads us ahead”, Minister A.Ažubalis wrote.
