LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER GOES ON A WORKING VISIT TO SPAIN AND AUSTRIA

On 7-11 March Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis goes on a working visit to Spain and Austria.

On 8 March Minister Valionis meets with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain Miguel Angel Moratinos in Madrid.  In view of the agenda of the forthcoming European Council meeting the Ministers plan to discuss the necessity to create a single energy policy of the EU, cooperation with the EU neighbour states, the the visa fee increase for the  third countries.

After the meeting it is planned to sign a Memorandum on the Use of Possibilities of the Consulate General of Spain in San Paulo (The Federative Republic of Brazil) and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Tbilisi (Georgia). In the Memorandum the countries agree to send one Spanish diplomat to Lithuanian Embassy in Tbilisi and one Lithuanian diplomat to San Paulo. Both Spanish and Lithuanian diplomats will have the right to use resources and contacts of the above mentioned diplomatic representations.

In Spain Lithuanian Foreign Minister is to meet with Spanish Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade Jose Montilla Aguilera and the heads of Spanish energy companies.

On 10-11 March Foreign Minister Valionis will take part in the Informal EU Foreign Ministers Meeting (Gymnich Meeting ) in Salzburg, Austria.

Foreign Ministers are to pay attention to the development of the Western Balkans region and perspectives of its relations with the EU. The Ministers will also discuss situation in Belarus and Ukraine, dialogue with Arab countries.
