LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER DISCUSSES BILATERAL COOPERATION ISSUES WITH MOLDOVAN DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER

On 18 December, the new Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius received congratulations from Iurie Leanca, Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, on assuming office.

The Ministers discussed Moldova’s successful participation in the Eastern Partnership initiative, the progress achieved in the negotiations on an Association Agreement and visa-free regime with the European Union, as well as preparations for the 3rd Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Vilnius in 2013.

Linkevičius invited Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister to pay a visit to Lithuania and to collectively chair the 4th meeting of the Lithuania-Moldova Commission for European Integration.

The Lithuania-Moldova Commission for European Integration was set up on the basis of a joint declaration, signed by the Lithuanian and Moldovan Prime Ministers on cooperation in the field of European Integration in the beginning of 2010. The meetings of the Commission are held each year in turn in Vilnius and in Chisinau.
