LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATES UKRAINE’S NEW HEAD OF DIPLOMACY

Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius sent a letter to Leonid Kozhara, congratulating him on his appointment as the new Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine last week.

In his letter, the Minister assures Kozhara that Lithuania will continue to support Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and share the experiences accumulated in the European integration process.

Close bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Ukraine is particularly important in the run-up to Lithuania’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union and to the Eastern Partnership Summit in 2013 in Vilnius.

Linkevičius also took the opportunity to congratulate his counterpart on the 95th anniversary of the Ukrainian diplomacy.

Before the appointment as the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kozhara served as Deputy Chairman of Ukraine’s Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs. Ukraine’s former Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Hryshchenko was recently appointed as Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.
