LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATES UKRAINE ON THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE
On 23 August, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis congratulated Ukraine on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Independence and emphasized the significance of friendly and sincere relations, mutual assistance and understanding, and the need to advance active cooperation between the countries.
The congratulatory letter to Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko highlights that the partnership of Lithuania and Ukraine is beneficial to both countries.“The path that started 20 years ago today is consolidated by genuine and open relationships and cooperation among our countries. I strongly believe that we together share the same vision of democratic, stable and prosperous Europe,” reads the letter of A.Ažubalis to K.Gryshchenko.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister stressed the value of recent meetings with the Ukrainian Minister for Foreign Affairs in Vilnius and expressed hope that future contacts would deepen strategic partnership between the countries.
This year, Lithuania and Ukraine also marks the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Ukraine declared its Independence from the Soviet Union on 24 August 1991.
