LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATES LITHUANIANS OF PUNSK AND SEJNY ON THE OCCASION OF MARCH 11

During the celebration of the Day of Re-establishment of the Independence of Lithuania on 11 March in Punsk, Director of the Department of Lithuanians Living Abroad Arvydas Daunoravičius conveyed to local Lithuanians congratulations of Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis on the occasion of the 11th of March.

“History teaches us that freedom is not given - this is our daily duty, and we have to give meaning to it through our faith, work and consolidation. So let us evaluate our achievements, strengthen our patriotism and cultivate the seedlings of public spirit. On the occasion of one of the most prominent dates in our millennium-long history, allow me to cordially invite you all to take up responsibility for your community and for the nation,“ the letter of congratulations of the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy reads.

Minister A.Ažubalis wishes Lithuanians living in Poland to have confidence in themselves and in each other, unity, concord and harmony.

The celebration began with the Mass dedicated to the Day of Re-establishment of the Independence of Lithuania at the church of Punsk.

About six thousand people of Lithuanian background live in Punsk and Sejny region.
