Lithuanian Foreign Minister congratulates Argentina’s new head of diplomacy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the new Foreign Minister of Argentina Jorge Marcelo Faurie on assuming office.

“Lithuania and Argentina will beyond any doubt maintain warm relations and work for the two countries’ well-being. We have many opportunities to strengthen our bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various areas,” wrote the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy in the congratulations letter.

Lithuania’s Foreign Minister expressed hope that the Lithuania-Argentina political consultation in Buenos Aires in 2018 would be particularly useful aiming for closer ties between the two countries and looking for new opportunities for cooperation.

Linkevičius invited his Argentinian counterpart to visit Lithuania.

Lithuania and Argentina re-established their diplomatic relations on 25 September 1991.

Jorge Marcelo Faurie took office on 12 June, replacing Susana Mabel Malcorra who  has stepped down for personal reasons. Previously, Faurie served as the Ambassador of Argentina to France.
