LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATED THE U.S. AMBASSADOR TO LITHUANIA ON THE AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY
On 16 June in Vilnius, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis took part in the 235th American Independence Day celebration at the U.S. Embassy in Lithuania and congratulated the U.S. Ambassador Anne Derse on this occasion. “President Ronald Reagan had once said that the Americans supported the freedom of the Baltic States, as America itself was founded primarily on freedom. Today our countries are free, democratic and united by a strategic partnership, striving to promote these values around the world,” A.Ažubalis noted.
This year, Lithuania and the United States are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations. Also this year marks the 100th birth anniversary of U.S. President Ronald Reagan. On this occasion, A.Derse presented a souvenir to A.Ažubalis for a keepsake - a photo of R.Reagan, holding a sash with the legend “I Love Lithuanians” („Myliu lietuvius“).Head of the Lithuanian diplomacy invited the Ambassador to take part in the seminar and exhibition this autumn marking the two anniversaries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
