LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATED THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE XII BALTIC ASSEMBLY
On 16 December in Vilnius Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas congratulated the participants of the XII Baltic Assembly on its 15th Anniversary.
The Minister stressed that working together we have reached real results. Today the name of the Baltic States is well known in the region and broader political space and to many foreign partners this name is the synonym of success.
“Cooperation of the Baltic States is the value that we have created working together consistently and intensively. I am sure that strengthening of trilateral cooperation is beneficial for all participant states,” Minister Vaitiekūnas said.
The Head of Lithuanian Diplomacy welcomed successful Baltic States’ cooperation in energy sphere. The cooperation on implementation of the new nuclear power station project in Lithuania has been agreed, common Baltic energy strategy has been prepared.
According to the Minister, cooperation of the Baltic States is important for preparation for enlargement of the Schengen area, implementation of the Rail Baltica project, for defence and environment protection spheres.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister underlined that our states are strong, interesting and important when they are able to link and coordinate different and even conflicting interests.
“When we manage to build bridges where understanding, partnership and cooperation are lacking, then we are important in the region. This attitude should be preserved for the future,” Mr Vaitiekūnas stated wishing success to Baltic cooperation.
